German satellite re-enters Earth's atmosphere
A German satellite the size of a car re-entered the Earth's atmosphere early Sunday, officials said, adding they did not know yet if debris had hit the Earth.
The x-ray observatory, named ROSAT, made its re-entry between 0145 GMT and 0215 GMT on Sunday, the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) said in a statement.
"There is currently no confirmation if pieces of debris have reached Earth's surface," the statement added.
Mobile phone use not linked to cancer: study
The largest study of its kind found no link between long-term use of mobile phones and increased risk of brain tumours, the British Medical Journal reported on Friday. Danish researchers found no evidence of enhanced risk among more than 350,000 mobile-phone subscribers whose health was monitored over 18 years. Earlier research on the possible link between cell phone use and cancerous tumours has been inconclusive, partly due to lack of long-term data.
Google mulls bid for Yahoo!: report
US Internet giant Google is mulling a bid for rival Yahoo! and has talked to at least two private-equity firms to consider how the deal would be financed, The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday. "Google and prospective partners have held early-stage discussions but haven't put together a formal proposal," the newspaper said, citing an unnamed source familiar with the matter. The report, however, stated that Google might end up not pursuing a bid for Yahoo!, once seen as the Internet's leading light but which has struggled to build a strongly profitable, growing business out of its global web presence.
It pays to listen to your customers, so get that feedback and act on it
One of the greatest mistakes a company can ever make is to ignore feedback. There are organisations that simply do what they are naturally comfortable with and are good at, and hardly seek their consumers’ opinion. To imagine that the consumer is unsure of what they want and may not even understand the technology is to draw the conclusion that the consumer is wrong and to express ignorance about his needs. Research and development, which is often referred to R&D, is an important way of coming up with new ideas.
Local innovations attract global funding
Venture capitalists — who provide funding to promising startups — are making a beeline for a slice of the country’s bustling web and mobile application segment, as interest builds up over its lucrative potential. In the last few months, the technology scene has witnessed increased activities from investors who want to tap into Kenya’s tech startups, with the conviction that they will be the future "Googles." Recently, in a 48-hour tech start up pitching contest known as IPO48, 12 startups competed to prepare business cases with the help of local and international mentors. This took place at the Nairobi’s Innovation Hub (i-Hub), where the contestants had just 48 hours to turn brilliant ideas into viable businesses.

There is no doubt that the word “love” has many definitions, and has been used and abused over time. The real meaning of love is not clear to many. There are those of us who believe that love is an everlasting emotion that conquers all. Others think love is a once-in-a-lifetime thrill that cannot be understood, only experienced. Some think that love can happen instantly, while others believe it takes time. But is it love, or it just infatuation? This is a question that Jane, in her late twenties, is battling with. She met Peterson for the first time at an office party last December. Peterson, an accountant, was immediately drawn to her shapely figure, her brown complexion, the way she talked and how her hair tumbled over her eye when she laughed. “I knew she was what I needed. She was the kind that I could confidently introduce to my friends and colleagues,” he says. Jane, a public relations officer, was enchanted by his deep voice, height and broad shoulders. He was the real deal: tall, dark and handsome. “He literary swept me off my feet,” says Jane. “I had never felt so strongly attracted to a man before. My hormones kept surging. I just couldn’t get him out of my mind.” It seemed like a case of mutual love at first sight. Over the next two months, Jane and Peterson were inseparable. Then abruptly, the bubble burst. Peterson began to lose interest in the relationship and did all he could to avoid being with her. “I just got bored. There was nothing to look forward to,” he confides.
